Episode 13: Apply Yourself to Improve Mental Health

Melodie brings Chelsea Rubio (Rhodes) onto the show to discuss her expertise in mental health. Chelsea was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. Her passion for the mental health field came from her own struggles with depression. Her educational journey began at Amarillo College where she completed her associate's degree where she completed her applied science degree in Psychology. She graduated from West Texas A&M University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. 

She moved to Denver in 2020 with her husband. She started learning more about the mental health landscape in Denver during her work at Rocky Mountain Crisis Partners, which operates the Colorado Crisis Line. 

Currently, she works at a nonprofit in Denver, Colorado. Her role focuses on connecting the community to mental health and substance use treatment & recovery resources. She is a graduate student in the Masters of Arts Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Regis University. She aspires to obtain her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology and eventually become a professor. She also looks forward to working with BIPOC and LGTBQ+ youth.
